This Solera is a mix of 45% Pinot Noir, 45% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Chardonnay, aged entirely in oak barrels and blended from consecutive vintages chosen by our winemaker. Our Solera contains every vintage from 1982 to 2012 and is an Extra-Brut, dosed at less than three grams per liter. Solera is not a vintage wine because it contains many vintages from different years.
Four different terroirs lend to the wide complexity of this Solera. The four cardinal points of Montagne de Reims contribute grapes of various styles due to variations in soil composition. Roughly, sand confers roundness, clay lends complexity, while chalk and calcium imparts freshness and mineral notes.
