This cuvee is made of 13 classic varietals of the Chateauneuf-Du-Pape. The final assemblage from vines at least 45 years old includes 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvédre, and a 10% mix of Cinsault, Counoise, Muscardin, Terret Noir and Vaccarèse. Like all of the best vintages of Châteauneuf-Du-Pape, this 2011 vintage is made with the utmost patience. Finessed, elegant, and balanced, this wine is like a fine elixir of falling rain playing in the heat.
Châteauneuf-Du-Pape is unique thanks to the large pebbles spread throughout its terroir. The pebbles absorb heat during the day and radiate a gentle warmth at night. They delicately ripen the grapes and evaporate residual water thus preventing the spread of certain diseases.
